The objective of this advanced programme is to
provide an in-depth
understanding of the cognitive model that will inform
effective
treatment decisions and interventions. The course is
designed to
enhance and expand upon the knowledge and skills gained
in the
Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Course Format
The Certificate in
Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy
consists of 16 days of training (112
hours). This course is taught on one weekend per
month (Saturday and Sunday), from 9.30 am to
4.30 pm.
The course
will commence in September 2009 and
will end in April 2010.
Entry Requirements
The Advanced Certificate
in CBT is designed for mental health professionals
including psychologists, GPs, psychiatrists,
psychotherapists, counsellors, social workers,
psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, counselling
and psychology students with good
knowledge of the CBT model, or any other person with
relevant experience in dealing with mental health issues
using CBT.
Prior
training in CBT is
mandatory for this course
(minumum of 70 hours tutor led CBT training)
Pre-requisite:
Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the International
Institute for Cognitive Therapy.
If you received your CBT training elsewhere than
at the IICT, you are required to attach the handbook of your training with your
application form (tutor led hours, syllabus, objectives, course contents,
...). In order to be eligible to study the Advance Certificate in CBT, your
previous training should be equivalent to the level obtained by the
Certificate in CBT organised by the IICT.

Structure of the course
Each class comprises of two parts. The first part will
cover the theoretical material (from 9.30 am to
1.00 pm). The second one involves case presentations,
where clinical material is presented to and discussed in
small groups, experiential learning, seminars,
where trainees role-play designated therapeutic
encounters to develop core practice skills and awareness
of associated theory.
Videos and audio material will also be used. Students
will be directed to read current literature and to
access relevant learning resources.
Content of the course
The diploma is mainly concerned
with common mental disorders in adulthood,
particularly anxiety
and
mood disorders.

Students are
required to write a case study of 3000-4000 words at a
passing grade (60%) by the end of the course.
An attendance rate of at
least 80% of total teaching days. An attendance register
is kept to assist in ensuring this requirement is met.
Fees
£1995
is the total cost of the
Advanced Certificate in
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
At the time of
the registration, a £500 non-refundable fee is required.
Coffee breaks, handouts and support materials are
included in the fee but not lunch or
accommodation.

Registration
is restricted to 35 participants
Accreditation
On completion of the course, you will receive an
Advanced Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural therapy issued by the International
Institute for Cognitive Therapy if you attended at least 80% of the
course.
This 112-hour cognitive behavioural course will contribute towards meeting the minimum training
requirements of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive
Psychotherapies (BABCP) for accreditation as well as those for relevant
professional bodies where these recognise, or are planning to recognise,
specific Cognitive behavioural therapy qualifications within their structures.

Sylvia Buet
is a Psychologist accredited as Cognitive Behavioural
Psychotherapist by the British Association for

has dedicated many years of her professional life to
organising and delivering
Cognitive Behavioural

all over
the world. She is a regular presenter at international
conferences and works as a lecturer at
